Psalm 1

  Blessed is the man
    who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
  nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
  but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
    and on his law he meditates day and night.
  He is like a tree
    planted by streams of water
  that yields its fruit in its season,
    and its leaf does not wither.
  In all that he does, he prospers.
  The wicked are not so,
    but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
  for the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
    but the way of the wicked will perish.

πŸ’‘How to do your quiet time

The Psalms are great for helping us relate to God and worship Him. It’s wonderful to spend time in the word and grow in your knowledge of God at a head level. Use today to do your quiet time a little differently and try to grow in your knowledge of God at a heart level. We must always strive to move from knowing of God to knowing God.

  1. Often it can be easy to walk “in the counsel of the wicked” and not realise. I need to think of who I go to for advise when I need serious advice or help in a situation. Right now I think I go to the right people but as I go into adult life, I must continue asking God for help in choosing the right people to be my close friends and advisors.

  2. Verse 3 stood out to me because it shows that if you are faithful to what God wants you to do and you are on the path that he wants you to be on. You will prosper because you are doing what God wants and that’ll be what’s best for others

  3. Delighting in God’s Word and meditating on it go together. Whatever we enjoy, we think about often. Whatever we think about often, we enjoy.
